ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES
The role sits within the Conversion team, as part of the wider CX Activation team.
As global Marketplaces Manager the job owner will lead global and above market relationship with online retailers. Furthermore, it is required to coordinate best approaches to win across multiple online platforms and support markets to optimise operations by best practice sharing. The role is critical to strategically accelerate consumer acquisition and build capabilities across all markets to deliver superior consumer experience. The expectation from the role is to grow profitable revenue across all partners and across all markets (following market prioritisation from New Category teams).
The Marketplace Manager will coordinate across activities including contract negotiation, performance monitoring, portfolio optimization and product listings. In the same time, it will design the global Marketplaces and quick Commerce roadmap, driving activation, as well as managing relationships with partners.
The role owns all capabilities that falls within this function as well as channel orchestration and will ensure these are updated and stays relevant across the BAT Capability Compass.
The role will ensure the right metrics are tracked, such as NTO, engagement rates, traffic etc. It will further collect online consumer feedback and share these with relevant teams to help prioritisation, including Category and Product teams.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR
- Developing the BAT global Marketplace and quick Commerce roadmap, collaborating closely with the Capabilities team to upskill DRBUs and markets
- Handling relationships with partners, supporting in driving activation activities such as product listing, performance management and contract negotiation
- Working closely with the Growth Hub and CX Activation teams to run PoCs in Marketplaces, assess impact and generate insight based on consumer feedback to remove conversion challenges
- Champion good practices, share with DRBUs and constant look for opportunities to optimise and drive revenue growth
- Constantly assessing Marketplaces vs. our New Categories to assess potential by market
- Identifying potential alignments and economies of scale across markets in selling through digital retailers
- Building Capabilities to deliver consistent and superior consumer experience across all markets (starting with priority markets defined by New Category teams)
- Growing profitable revenue with Marketplaces (attitude of co-ownership of P&L)
- Performance Management & Reporting: defining key metrics and developing dashboards to enable performance visibility, providing operational insights to support decision making
- Collecting, analysing, and using data from all touchpoints to improve consumer experiences and track performance metrics.
- Working with the dCommerce team to deliver a cross-channel strategy
- Staying updated on industry trends and adopt innovative solutions to continuously improve the consumer experience.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Graduate Degree
- Strong experience within Marketplaces or digital commerce, minimum 5 years
- Demonstrated success in digital campaigns across multiple touchpoints
- Proficiency with e-commerce platforms, CRM systems, and other digital tools
- Contract negotiation skills, strong leadership skills
- Ability to craft and execute campaigns across digital touchpoints
- Strong analytical skills.
- Knowledge of Marketplaces management best practices
- Commercial savvy with understanding of P&L management
- Understanding of the role of Marketplaces in the wider channel mix
- Experience in driving pilot programmes and how to incubate Proof of Concepts to rapidly learn
- Expertise in streamlining processes and workflows for efficient operations.
- Experience working with agencies, briefing and managing them
- Understanding of shopper behaviours, needs and drivers
- Strong understanding of wider conversion channels, especially digital – e.g. eCommerce
- Experience developing positive relationships with stakeholders to deliver aligned activation
