BAT FIJI SUVA IS LOOKING FOR ELECTRICAL LEAD
The Electrical Lead will be responsible for ensuring all electrical components in machinery at PMD, SMD and Utilities are maintained ensuring the safe and efficient production and adhering to quality and safety standards. This role is accountable for maintaining and continuous improvement in production processes and rigorous utilization of IWS from electrical perspective. This role is key in providing process and/or technical expertise within day-to-day operations. The role is accountable to all production Matrix. 95% of individual’s time will be spent on the operating Floor working with the team

ROLE SUMMARY

  1. Business

Leadership

  • To ensure operations receive all Electrical services and support to achieve the daily production requirements
  • Use Continuous Improvement Processes as a tool to drive improvement as a support department, and fully support the functional Stop & Review process.
  • Manage and execute the Maintenance Plan to ensure all tasks are completed and recorded as required.
  • Drive World Class Performance and BAT Best Practises as part of the Continuous Improvement process to realise the objectives of the business.
  • Proactively develop and manage all Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives to achieve a level of excellence in performance and maintain good housekeeping standard in the assigned work area.
  • Work with the PMD and SMD personnel to drive continuous process improvement in Factory through re-engineering of processes and equipment.
  • Ensure Site utilities are effectively maintained to BAT standards
  • Plan and manage the delivery of Projects and initiatives within budget and timeframe and provide assistance to Operations and cross functional projects
  • Keep team focused on key priorities/projects to ensure things happen as planned.
  • Ensure the establishment of a strong Operations capability that delivers leading work practises to support the strategic initiatives of the business.
  • Maintain all records and document associated with your work, such as Maintenance Records, progress on EH&S Action Plan, and other areas.
  • Be actively involved in the Process Improvement initiatives in conjunction with the Quality & Process Improvement function.
  • Develop and execute plant maintenance process for electrical department.
  • Procure products or services that are required to execute works for Operations and other functions that is in the scope of site utilities, projects and/or based on ad hoc requests
  • Execute any other work as and when provided by the Line Manager

Loss Elimination

  • Support in the execution of PM Pillar Tools
  • Support the 90-Day Plans to address losses and build capability across electrical team
  • Drive breakthrough results in OEE targeting Unplanned Downtime (no downtime due to electrical failures)
  • Delivering new ways of working to reduce Planned downtime with operational teams
  • Lead issue resolution “to Root Cause” on the floor of chronic stops
  • Coach necessity & use of Unified Problem Solving, including 6W2H & speed of execution
  • Accountability for ensuring all Machines can operate with no Speed loss and to the BAT Quality Guidelines
  • Ensuring that correct standards and SOP are cascaded and followed across line to ensure electrical components at baseline
  • Proper maintenance plans in place to ensure machine is maintained at base condition and reduction in process failure or breakdowns
  • Ensuring correct and timely parts ordering to eliminate losses

*Above will need to be maintained and followed across factory and utilities for electrical services

DMS (Daily Management Setting)

  • Actively support AM and PM Pillar
  • Support in all DMSs on SMD production floor: CL/CIL/BDE/IE/DH/RCO/CM/MP&S
  • On the floor coaching of equipment owners
  • Perform hands-on coaching
  • Loss Elimination
  • Skill Development/Technical Mastery
  • Participate in Shift DDS, Line DDS, Weekly and Monthly DDS

Actively support AM and PM Pillar

  • Identification of training & development needs for operators on technical
  • Manage good working relationship with the key stakeholders (production team, line, maintenance & process lead)
  • Create conducive environment that will motivate the team (maintenance team, module leads and operators) to strive for achieving continuous improvement

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE

Experience/Education:

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering discipline with at least 5 years of FMCG experience.
  • Strong discipline in PLC related equipment
  • Strong technical and leadership capability
  • SAP Plant Maintenance knowledge
  • Knowledge in Lean Manufacturing, 6 sigma or similar methodologies
  • Proven ability to drive cultural change
  • Proficient in MS Words and power-point is required for OPL & Work Instructions 
  • Adequate knowledge on problem solving skills (5Whys, 6W2H) and general factory standard such as 5S, EHS & Good manufacturing practices.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of staff
  • Proven ability in driving a diverse work environment ensuring employees are engaged and empowered in contributing to the success of our operation and business.
  • A strong customer focused mind set and a strong capability to build relationships in the workplace
  • Team player him/herself
  • Good time management and able to deliver results under stress
  • Proficient in troubleshooting knowledge on machines (cigarette maker/packer) will be added advantage.
  • Understand, follow, and ensure compliance with QA and HS&E Key Elements.
  • Eliminate Root Cause of any abnormalities
  • Drive breakthrough results in Process Reliability, Planned and Unplanned Downtime while delivering against the Master Production Schedule
  • Lead issue resolution “to Root Cause” on the floor of chronic stops
