British American TobaccoUK has an exciting opportunity for a Food/QARA Compliance Manager in Southampton

The key objectives of this role are:

  • To apply knowledge of Product Regulatory Compliance (PRC) processes, to drive the PRC activities to ensure compliance of BAT Products to end-market legislations and internal/external standards.
  • Work collaboratively with partner (internal and external) teams to drive resilient product compliance in our Well-being and Simulation portfolio.
  • To drive process improvement activities in the PRC team and embedding standard methodologies into business as usual. 

This role will have responsibility for the well-being, stimulation and novel actives compliance content of the product portfolio which is relied upon by BAT compliance and product/project delivery teams and will be point of contact for partners.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Applies food and beverage compliance expertise from Product Regulatory Compliance (PRC) team to guide suppliers, development or deploy activities, advise on product testing, review test reports, technical dossiers and enable regulatory compliance for our well-being and stimulation portfolio of products.
  • Ensure compliance with food, labelling, packaging and associated legislation in the Well-being and Stimulation applicable markets.
  • Supports the execution of device and their accessories product and packaging master artwork compliance assessments.
  • Drives product regulatory compliance activities as advised and delivers on schedule to the defined plan and expected governance.
  • Liaise with multifunctional technical teams to ensure delivery and full product compliance for current device platforms for all relevant product categories.
  • Delivery of customer service level expectations (innovation, quality, risk management, supply) - prepare timely, clearly written, concise, accurate and evidence-based assessment reports.
  • Write and update training materials, guidance documents, SOPs, and work instructions on device compliance processes for external suppliers, acquisitions and R&D for review and sign off by team lead.
  • Ensures the confidentiality of all supplier information is maintained to ensure their trust, support, and co-operation.

What are we looking for?

  • Experience of one or more of the following regulatory environments: food safety regulations & standards: flavour ingredient industries.
  • Expert knowledge of relevant Food Safety legislation – hence an understanding of food safety management systems; a good grasp of Food / Health and Safety legislation / HACCP and how they are enforced. Good awareness of FMCG business operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to influence key partners and external suppliers and capable of conveying complex technical requirements across the organization.
  • Strong technical expertise to ensure robust analysis of complex product data and the ability to use that information to make sound recommendations and decisions.
  • Provides coaching and problem-solving support to suppliers and project teams on food safety compliance issues.
  • Identify, recommend, and perform product compliance training as needed for members of internal partners, suppliers, and PRC community. To develop and maintain effective working cross-functional collaborations with partners such as LEX, DRBUs, R&D, ESG and Operations groups.
  • A good first degree in a relevant scientific field (food science/science) and/or expertise developed with a positive track record.
  • Professional body certification (or equivalent).

Beneficial

  • Experience of product safety and food compliance desirable.
  • Strong technical knowledge of food and beverage industry.
  • Possess computer proficiency in Microsoft office software, data collection and general analysis tools, Microsoft Excel proficiency particularly beneficial. Experience in using document management platforms.
